A Signal Generator for Simulating Radiation Sources based on FPGA

请选择邀稿期刊:
Abstract: This paper presents a nuclear signal generator capable of simulating multiple radiation sources. There are three components: hardware, firmware, and user interaction interface. 1.The hardware includes a Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) and a digital-to-analog converter (DAC), where the FPGA facilitates communication and algorithm implementation. 2.The firmware serves as the core component of the system, simulating digital nuclear signals with Linear Congruential Method (LCM). The generated signals must satisfy two conditions: a) The amplitude aligns with the radiation sources energy distribution; b) The counting rate follows a Poisson distribution. By allowing the user to define the category and intensity of radiation sources, the generator can adjust parameters to produce customized signals. 3.Finally, we offer a user-friendly interaction interface that provides real-time feedback. When compared with actual radiative signals, the test results demonstrate high accuracy, indicating that the generator can effectively replace realistic radiation sources in many applications.
