Questions and Answers on Preprints [Issue 4]

Why do science and technology journals require preprints (platforms)?

Since the birth of the Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society in 1665, the positioning and mission of scientific journals have been academic exchange, providing authors with channels for publishing the latest research results and readers with access to the latest research results. Preprints (platforms) are a new type of academic exchange system characterized by protecting the online publishing rights of research results, providing authors with faster opportunities to publish research results, and becoming the first choice for young researchers to obtain the latest research results. The advantages of scientific journals and preprints (platforms) complement each other and coexist in synergy. The author's manuscript can be published on a preprint platform and submitted (published) in a journal simultaneously, and does not constitute duplicate publication. The two do not seek mutual substitution and have a positively correlated promoting relationship, jointly forming a benign academic ecosystem. (Chujingli)
