Design of a 35 MeV Multi-Particle Cyclotron

摘要: This paper presents the design of the LB-30TP multi-particle cyclotron developed by Sichuan Longevous Beamtech Co., Ltd. The cyclotron can accelerate H−, D− and α particles, and is capable of multi-beamline extraction over a wide energy range. H− and D− ions are generated by a multi-cusp ion source, and α particles are provided by a 14.5 GHz ECR ion source. After being extracted from the two ion sources, all of the three kinds of ion beams are deflected by a combining magnet to the common transport section. The common section adopts a Triplet-SQQ combined focusing structure, and the beam is injected into the central region of the accelerator through a spiral inflector. The parameters of the injection line are optimized via particle tracking and genetic algorithm iteration to achieve high injection efficiency. The main magnet adopts two sets of tuning coils to achieve isochronous acceleration of particles with different charge-to-mass ratios. The design of the central region ensures beam orbit centering, with an equivalent capture phase width of approximately 40◦. The extraction system uses the carbon-foil stripping method to achieve continuous energy extraction from 13 MeV to 35 MeV. The growth of the beam envelope and emittance is controlled within a reasonable range through optimization of physical and structural design
